This is Disappointing to Say the LeastBy Locke on May 30th, 2011
As you guys know, we at Massive Pwnage love League of Legends. We try to get a game in every day if at all possible, and have been fortunate to have been noticed by the guys at Riot Games. I saw a forum post that really made me appreciate Riot so much more today. I’ve never played Heroes of Newerth, nor do I have any past experience with S2 Games. I don’t know a thing about their Heroes, or items, or how the game is balanced at all, but what I do know is how an online community can effect a project. With Riot Games, they appreciate user feedback, knowing that their community is made up of people who have played MOBA games for a long long time. This is inexcusable. I’ve heard rumors of the HoN community being hard-core, sometimes brutal to players old and new, but this is ridiculous. When a staff member of a company insults a customer, it reflects that image upon the company as well. What also alarms me is the amount of people that defend the actions of the S2 employee. The support of this kind of unprofessional behavior is not something that the gaming community needs. I seriously hope that S2 takes action against this employee; I don’t think that any customer, especially a paying one who is loyal to a fledgling company like S2 should be treated that way. -Locke |
Wow that was so unprofessional. I was thinking about trying that game, but totally changed my mind now.
That is absolutely terrible. As for the company doing something about it, unfortunately I doubt they will: skimming through the thread, I saw other staff members congratulating JohnnyUtah, fully supporting his unprofessional remarks. How is someone supposed to learn from their poor behavior when it’s receiving praise from their peers? -_-
In the end, the winner will stand out and the losers will perish. Once DotA 2 comes out I don’t expect another word from the HoN community. Not to mention the amount of content they stole from LoL.
I’ve been playing LoL from the early beta, and I can really say – they do care. And the riot games had the similar thing happening – one of the staff flamed and banned a player while streaming the game. He was fired quite quickly.
wow i feel amazed at how little a company can care about its image, if he hasnt been fired or punished in any way yet than there’s at least one other delusional employee in the S2 works, it simply amazes me that anyone would think that post could be an apropiate answer, than again if HoN is seriously going under than maybe everyone is cracking and a post that reminded him what he already knows threw him over his mental edge, it actually happens, but this remains a rediculous case of unrestrained forum rage and even more coming from what once was a supposedly “profesional” person
I’m glad you guys agree. It’s one thing to be an unprofessional person, it’s quite another to flame someone when all they’re trying to do is help and promote your product.
Wow… simply wow…
Im actually shocked that there is a company out there that still runs with employees treating customers like that. I for one applaud the forum mod that yelled at Utah for the post. They will find out soon enough though that their image will drop within its community and people will get fed up with their lack of concern over what its players think about their game. My guess is that the company will go under within a few months but who knows, maybe they will start wising up, fire Utah and begin listening to its players. By the looks of it though, i doubt the latter will happen.
You know, I never once regreted picking up LoL and ditching HoN after a few tries.
I play both HoN and LoL i prefer LoL … and i guess people are right when they say HoN is for flamers and ragers (trolls) but its cuz it is a little more Team game than LoL but still that thread is …
That moon guy is so True and then people start trolling cuz he think lol is better and more balanced trolololol
The thread was then closed by another S2 Staff Member who commented on agreeing with the first? That’s just messed up.
I read the post in HoN forum and I can’t agree more with you guys, this guy is an employee of S2 and his post its like an official response from the company. The fact that he hasn’t been fired yet, just reveals how distracted is the company with the fact Riot/LoL have 8x the amount of players, and everyday HoN players migrate to LoL. I even noticed many post cheering the employee for what he did, that only confirms that HoN community is full of trolls.
I never liked HoN due to being a 100% copy of dota.
JohnnyUtah has made a mistake with his post. He directly attacked a consumer, who, no matter how wrong he was, presented an argument. His ad hominem attacks made against the creator of the thread were unprofessional, no matter how correct (I cannot speak on this, as I have no experience with the player).
Where I work, I deal with the public. Should I attack a consumer, I am held accountable for my actions. Doing stuff like that drives consumers away, and he should be held accountable, receive a warning, and I am disciplined based on how severe, and how frequently I do such things.
And the other S2 staff members should not have agreed with him at all, as that presents a negative face for the company, as they will attack their player base without fear of reprimand. People will see this, and will rethink their choice to play the game. Is it worth playing, if the staff can get away with simply attacking you, as a player?
this makes me love riot so much more now hahaha
seriously unprofessional, really I mean wtf..?
I’ve played LoL a lot, and that is pretty ridiculous, but keep in mind a screen is just that a screen name, we really don’t know if that was the real JohnnyUtah or his dick of a roommate, who was angry amd that account was on at the time. We can assume that it is him, but we don’t for sure
He’s an employee. At the company. There’s really no “room-mate” excuse for that one. And considering that the thread was locked, it was a matter of the company silencing this event rather explaining away. If it were a hack or a blunder, they (the company) would most likely have apologized for it. Later on in the thread, another employee defended the flaming in itself, suggesting that the company, or at least the community department, just doesn’t care.
