As most gamers and readers of Kotaku are well informed, our good friend Jack Thompson has been disbarred! Of course, that doesn’t mean we won’t see him causing grief for the gaming community, it just means he lost a valuable asset in his witchhunt. Now he will have to find a lawyer as crazy as he is to take his cases seriously. Although I doubt we will see the last of this man in the courtroom.
In case you haven’t tried Spore yet, slap yourself in the face. Right now.
Although I think my experiance with Spore was biased because I never did follow the hype at all, I think it is a really good game. It has the Sims aspect of customization, but the grabbing capability of NACHOS. One bite, and you won’t share.
It’s only when you get into the final stage of your creation’s history that you realize the replay value of Spore. Yes, although the missions sometimes get repetitive, I find that scenarios vary SO much that it gives every task it’s own little flavor. I found myself abducting a creature in the heart of enemy territory, smack dab in the middle of a hostile alien homeworld. It would be the equivalent of us storming an Elite Homeworld, only to steal their prized livestock. I felt a small sense of accomplishment navigating through enemy fire, specimen in tow. It gives the sense of freedom I didn’t get with Freelancer.
And speaking of the Covenant, Bungie has my immediate attention. Their new teaser trailer has me itching to replay through the campaign on Ence’s 360. Ence feels that Halo 3 was “Okay”, but I suppose that quirky and innovative games are his forte’ rather then intense action and deep mythos. I’m surprised to see that Bungie is being so cryptic with this teaser this time around. Rumors has it that you will play as an ODST or “Helljumpers” as they called them in the novels. Interesting ploy, but I was hoping to step back into the Mjolnir suit and kick some more tail as the Chief. The Chief is a charismatic figure all his own. His one-liners are what make him and you feel like a BAMF at the end of the day.
I’ve also convinced Ence to give Magic the Gathering a try, he’s currently running Red Burn Deck. His girlfriend picked up it as well, running a crafty little black deck. I started playing Green again; my last deck was heavy on Black, with a dash of White and Green.
Perhaps I’ll get back into the FNM, if I can find a Card shop anywhere near this town.
If you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to check on my Yellow Spice Colony.
I don’t really play anymore, but I have tons of cards (sold most of my rares, but oh well). My favourite deck is still a white/blue/black deck.
