This comic was produced 100% by hand through the use of very traditional means. We’re talkin’ pen and paper.
I started with sketches on smooth bristol, as usual. First the panel borders and then the lettering. Lettering is important to do early in the process so that you can arrange your characters easily without running out of space for all them words.
Character sketches came next. The process for doing this is different than on the computer because in Photoshop, everything can be resized and repositioned very easily. It takes a bit more planning to do it the old-fashioned way.
Inking was done with a combination of Micron pens of varying sizes, a Faber-Castell PITT Brush Pen, and a big Tombow brush pen. Again, this is different from doing things digitally because you only get one shot when inking. No control Z!
A lot of artists and fellow webcartoonists do their work traditionally, but it’s still fairly new to me. I’m pretty happy with the results this time around, so maybe I’ll try it again sometime.
Odd. and the card i was talking about last comic, when played, just makes the target player lose the game.
The pen is almighty, punchline was swell although I also heard you still need pens to sign legal papers and checks(wait who uses those anymore?)
Beats me 😛
next comic: Ence learns the “Joys” of ink pen explosions
The pen is mightier than the sword. Nice
