Spore probably isn’t as awesome as all the hype said it would be, but it’s still really fun.
It’s fairly annoying when you’re on the other side of the galaxy on a mission, and your home planet suddenly falls prey to evil space pirates. Putting multiple turrets on each of your cities is supposed help against attackers, but I’m not sure how much help they actually do.
I haven’t seen any multi-colored llamas yet, but I have seen an Epic Moosetadon. It was epic.

I forget what it’s called, but there’s a flying defense satellite kinda thing, only one per planet, and they are so incredibly helpful.
Yeah, I think that’s like one of the last things you get or something and they’re really expensive. If I remember right, don’t play it anymore : P
