Sonic GenerationsBy Locke on June 30th, 2011
Sonic Generations seems to take that formula up a notch. Taking the success of the Colors formula, they’ve done something I’d always hoped they’d do; revisit old worlds with new Sonic Gameplay. Several videos have surfaced showing off a few levels from past Sonic games, including one of my favorites, City Escape. You can play as either Modern Sonic, using the functionality of Sonic Colors, or Classic Sonic, whose gameplay feels more like that of the earlier 16-bit games. The demo is out now on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network if you want to give Classic Sonic a spin through Green Hill Zone. The graphics are amazing, a step-up from Colors; the nostalgia literally wow’d me. It plays just as you would hope, Sonic’s spindash is there, with the focus on jumping on enemies with timing and accuracy rather than using the homing attack. The level is smooth and familiar while also spicing areas up from their classic counterparts. It’s an amazing game that you should definitely try. -Locke |
