100 Comics!

It’s been a crazy ride. I had this nice blog written out, detailing my every point of joy I have experienced writing and working on MP. But the test server died, and it disappeared. Writing for Massive Pwnage has been alot of fun, although sometimes its been very hectic trying to get material out on schedule. Ence really gets on my back when I’m too lazy to write comic ideas in script form, but we always manage to scrape something together. Our at least he does anyway. I hope that the next 100 comics will be much better, well written and saturated in comedy goodness. I’d like to thank those of you who supported us when we first started, and have kept up with the comic until today. I hope the comics have brightened your day at one point or another. Or at least have made you smile when nothing else could grant you one.¬† Ence got the forum working today, so if you wanna talk to us, sign up and speak your hearts out. We’d love to hear from you guys, we wanna hear about your thoughts on the comic, gaming, or just random stuff in general.

We’ll be waiting, and thanks for reading. The best is yet to come.

So many releases, and so far away…

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Ence has been playing The Force Unleashed, but he would have preferred to play Fable 2 today. We rented a few movies before coming to the sad fact that Blockbuster didn’t have any copies of Fable 2 in stock. So we went with Force Unleashed. Ence has been juggling that with On The Rain-Slick Precipace Of Darkness ep. 2. The first Penny Arcade Adventures game was loads of fun, and from what I’m hearing, it’s gotten much better. It felt like some of Ron Gilbert’s work in Monkey Island, mixed with a bit of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I’m a big fan of both, and frequently read Penny-Arcade. I’ve never been to PAX in my life, but I want to soon. I think I might start throwing in Fallout 3 to the mix of the games Ence has been playing, the last one being WoW. The sad fact is, just when the invasion of the scourge is really starting to heat up, I’m winding down to when my classes are starting to get harder. I’ll have plenty to catch up on I assure you.

SITE PROBLEMS

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

It would appear that the site is experiencing some difficulties. You might have noticed some of your comments or forum posts missing. I have absolutely no idea what is causing this, but I’m trying to fix it. Hopefully I’ll be able to bring everything back.

Problem Fixed

I contacted the appropriate persons, and everything is better. I couldn’t bring anything back, so we’ll just have to rebuild. Build it stronger, better, and more awesome.

Cookies and other things of glory

Friday, November 14th, 2008

So I had attempted to make cookies a few weeks back, and added far too much of a certain ingredient. The taste was delectable…for the first few seconds. I found that the taste could be avoided if you chased each mouthfull with a gulp of milk, but that plan looked grim when I realized how many of the darned things there were. I had avoided many RPG’s during the hayday of PS2 bliss, back when they were epic and awesome. I still think that the PS2 has had the greatest run besides perhaps the Super Nintendo. Anyhow, whilst browsing our game library, I noticed that Tikara had a copy of the game: Champions of Norrath. I started playing with my girlfriend, she rolling the Cleric class, while I ran a Shadow Knight. I was very suprised how well the game was put together. It was a classic I had missed when it was in it’s prime, but I noticed that it’s roots were firmly planted in Diablo’s playground. I for one am planning on purchasing Diablo III, should my computer stand for it.

Got the Credits? Save a Life!

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Hello guys, first I’d like to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving Week.

If you live in the Pacific Northwest, you might have heard about the recent pit-bull attacks. On Nov. 24, two days ago, my family’s dogs were attacked, two of which were killed. The third, our Jack Russell Terrier, is now in the ICU at Dove-Lewis Vet. Hospital. He’s fighting for his life with a punctured lung, and several fleshwounds. He’s recently got out of surgery, but he still has a 50-50 chance of survival. The costs of his operation and care are mounting over $5300, and we need your help.

I’ve set up a donation fund for the vet costs, and you can donate at your local Wells Fargo Bank towards the “Chico Rivas Medical Fund.” He is a well-loved member of our family, and anything you can donate helps. If you can’t donate, please tell your friends and family.

For more details on the what happened follow this link.

Thank you for reading,
and I hope you have a great holiday.

The (New) Site

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

So now that the new site has been up for a while, I’d like to ask you all a few questions.

  1. Is it awesome?
  2. How awesome is it?
  3. Is it awesomer than the old one?

But yeah, I’d like to hear what everyone thinks about the new site and it’s lovely features. Send me your thoughts by e-mail, leaving a comment, or posting in the forum.

Super Awesome +1

A certain Massive Pwnage comic was featured on the front page of the World of Warcraft site today. It’s the most awesome thing ever.

Finals, and other things of Burden!

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

As you may have noticed, many of the comics coming out are Ence’s, written by him and such. I’ve got a few scripts floating around my computer, but I haven’t had the time to develop them because I’ve been doing stuff for my finals. Not that I don’t want to, it’s just that some things such as these require much more time then I had originally planned.

Trying to bring Alice out from the shadows has been a challenge. She’s a great character, but she hasn’t been quite fleshed out yet. I’ve got a few side-stories floating around in my head, and they haven’t surfaced onto any pages, but I’m sure we’ll see Alice coming out of the box much more often.

The dragonball movie is sure to be Epic Fail. At first I was somewhat excited for it. Until I saw Goku’s actor. And the trailer. And Piccolo’s lack of green. Looking at this movie gives me one thing and one thing alone. The impression that Big Hollywood decided to add some Pizazz to that tired old story. Add some flair, and new age values, and awesome CGI. Well you know what, Hollywood? You don’t understand us at all. You did it to Doom, you did it to Resident Evil, and now you’ve done it to Dragonball. We are not looking to be wowed when we go to the movie incarnations of these things. The original media already did that. What we’re looking for is a living, breathing interpretation of what we have already come to know. Why do you think those Harry Potter movies are so successful? That last movie had a DBZ battle that I remember rereading more than six times before. You don’t need to rewrite it. Don’t. Ever. And if someone who is one of the writing staff for the American version of Death Note comes across this blog, know this. If you botch this one and only chance to redeem yourselves for all manga fans everywhere, they will hunt you down like the godless vermin you are. If you need to see how a well made game/anime interpretation SHOULD be made, please go see the FIRST Mortal Kombat movie. Fans love it. And fans paid to watch a god-awful sequel to it and STILL praise the original.

Happy Holidays!

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

Hey everyone, I’d just like to wish everyone a great holiday season. Through my parent’s determination to have us home, we made it through the snowy tempest to come back to our hometown. Ence wasn’t really joking when he did the comic. He really did get me a giant green comb while saying, “You know, for your flowing locks.” I also got a Rubik’s cube from him and his girlfriend. He taught me how to do most of it a while back, now it’s going to drive me crazy trying to solve it again and again. My girlfriend and I got him and his significant¬†other the gift of candy and Magic the Gathering cards. And as Ence alluded to before in another comment post, I have news about my family’s dog, Chico. He returned from the vet hospital, while the original owners of the dogs that entered our yard offered to pay in full. Proceeds gathered from the Chico Rivas Medical fund will be donated to another animal fund. Thanks to those who donated. Our greatest gift was to see him home, and he’s expected to make a full recovery. We are very fortunate to keep doing what we love to do at MP, and we would love to have you guys around as long as possible.

Thank you for sticking with us, readers, and happy holidays.
