His costume usually has little slits where the claws come out, but they still gotta go through his skin first. He must go through a LOT of band-aids.
I always thought that the bone claws were silly. I completely buy metal claws – that works for me – but BONE claws? No sale.

But… He has super healing. Even though he doesn’t have flaps, the wounds in his hands just heal up every time he retracts his claws, right?
Flaps would still make way more sense than having to go through that every time. So yeah, they thought of everything except the flaps.
I think at some time he mentions that when the claws come out it hurts considering it cuts through his flesh. So figures it just heals up instantly due to the cuts being so small.
In one of the movies I think.
I think it was first mentioned in a conversation with Jubilee in the comics.
