Healthier and tastier than ramen, makes more servings and overall is fairly low cost. He said everyone he knew did it that way, so we referred to it as "Texas-style ramen". Later, my friend tried sprinkling the packet directly on an uncooked brick of ramen and eating it. He dubbed it, "Hardcore Texas-style ramen." Never tried it myself...
