Oh Castlevania, how I adore thee. I had just started playing Castlevania HD on Xbox Live Arcade when I realized that the designers captured what had made the original batch of Castlevania games great; skill. Skill was something that was necessary to advance in the earlier years of gaming; to keep people playing, designers would create challenges that would keep people focused onto learning the game’s inner craft to best it. Castlevania is one such game, much more akin to newer games like Devil May Cry. I had tried to play Soma and Jonathan Morris before settling on Richter Belmont as my main playable character. This may or may not have to do with the fact that he can frickin’ roundhouse kick dang near everything to death. I had completely ignored the fact that I was supposed to be killing things with my whip. Go figure. It’s a really great game to play with friends, and if you enjoy a good challenge I suggest you give it a try.
